The events of this tale are set five-hundred to six-hundred years after humanity has died off the absents of human beings has allowed other animals to rise to become the dominant organism of the planet. It is unclear which unhealthy habit of human kind lead to our downfall, but many relics of human kind still remain in the new world. The events of this story will focus on a young languor monkey named Haliem.  Haliem has an inquisitive personality, but often his curious nature gets him into more trouble than he bargains for.  One day Haliem has a horrific nightmare of a horrific creature that attempts to swallow him whole. When he wakes discovers that his younger sister has gone missing.  He later learns that she has been lured into the cave of a creature known as “the haunter in the darkness”.  Haliem gathers information from around the village and rushes to location of the “Haunter”.  True to Halims nature, he dives into the situation headfirst throwing caution completely to the wind.  The haunter in the darkness was once a monkey like haliem. Many years ago the haunter or Valiram as he was once known, attempted to murder his brother in order to become the next in line for his father’s thrown. When the assassination attempt failed and his father learned of this deception, Valiram was executed.  Because of his unforgivable sin he had committed, his body was thrown in a cave and forgotten instead of being buried in the traditional fashion his ancestors. His rage and hatred prevented him from passing on and his spirit took on the form of an enormous serpent. The serpent uses a lure at the end of its tale to coerce innocent souls into its nest to devour their assents and bodies.
